KCB lift Christie Sevens

KCB RFC won their third Cup in the National Sevens Circuit after defeating Nakuru RFC 12-7 in the sudden death to win Christies Sevens played at the RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi.

The match ended 7-7 at full time after they both scored converted tries heading for a sudden death.

KCB’S Elphas Adunga landed his team’s winning try handing Dennis Mwanja charges Christies Sevens.

It’s their third title after winning Kakamega sevens and Dala Sevens.

In the first semi finals KCB RFC dispatched Mwamba RFC 17-12 being their third meeting in the main cup semi finals in the circuit after meeting in the first leg in Kakamega and second leg in Meru, while Nakuru RFC won 19-14 against Impala Saracens in the second semi finals.

Nakuru’s Monate Akuei went over for his side to score the first try Geoffrey Ominde converting to give his side a 7-0 lead.

Fly half Geoffrey Okwach responded for the bankers, Levi Amunga converting it to make it 7-7 at half-time.

There was no action in the second half both team holding their possession and defending well to avoid conceding a try leaving the match to end 7-7 at full time.

Elphas Adunga won the ball after getting a pass from Okwach side stepping Nakuru’s defense to score the winning try at the furthest right corner of the field.

Impala Saracens finished third after defeating Kabeberi sevens champions Mwamba RFC 21-14 to win the third place play off.

Menengai Cream Homeboyz finished fifth place after outshining Nondescripts 24-00.

Kenya Harlequins won the Challenge Trophy after they whitewashed varsity side Blak Blad 31-5 while Cubs Rugby won the thirteenth place final 21-12 against Egerton Wasps.
