Goal galore as Gor Mahia thrash Tusker in league opener

KPL defending champions Gor Mahia thrashed Tusker 5-2 to begin their title defence on a winning note at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
Kenneth Muguna scored twice and gave two assists as K’Ogalo started their title defence with a victory against rivals Tusker.
Nicholas Kipkirui started where he left last season when he scored the first goal in the 26th minute as he went past goal keeper Robert Mboya. Tusker drew level through Boniface Muchiri with a stunning right corner shot 10 minutes later.
Miguna restored’s K’Ogalo’s lead after scoring from his missed penalty rebound.
Muchiri made matters 2-2 once again with a long-range shot before Charles Momanyi headed home to give Gor the lead again three minutes later.
Gor Mahia head coach Steve Polack said he was impressed with his team’s second half performance.
“We started well but lacked the firepower in front of goal. But I am happy the boys came back after the break aggressive and resilient,” he said.
Gor Mahia’s next league match is against Chemelil Sugar at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu, on September 14.
