Nyakach MP wants Noordin Haji degree papers probed

National Intelligence Service Deputy Director Noordin Hajj

Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor has questioned the education background of Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji after his arrest and charging last week.
Speaking in his constituency on Sunday, the legislator said Haji’s conduct in handling cases is a manifestation that he lacks what it takes to run the office.
“Many people are quietly asking about his degree papers due to his shoddy handling of cases and it is high time they were investigated Aduma said, adding that as a lawyer, he does not know when the DPP signed the roll of advocates.
The beleaguered MP threatened to lobby his colleagues in the House to impeach the DPP if he will not stop bungling cases.
“We have many qualified and competent lawyers in the country, therefore, we cannot allow one person with a questionable academic background to frustrate us,” he said.
The MP also took a swipe at Haji for misusing public funds to fly him to Nairobi just to record a statement yet there are very many police stations and courts in Kisumu where he could be summoned.
“If you want to know this man is confused, imagine using public funds to fly me to Nairobi just to record a statement yet I live in the city,” said the MP.
The MP was last week arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives in Kisumu over alleged irregular payment of Sh68 million to a law firm by the Nairobi County Government.
He was charged at a Milimani court last Friday but was later released on a Sh3 million after denying the charges.
