Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take action against a supermarket supervisor who was caught on camera assaulting a cashier.
In a tweet on Saturday, the county boss told the DCI and the Kenya Police Service to swing into action.
She said that the assault that was being meted out on the victim was unacceptable.
“This is completely unacceptable. Gender-based violence cannot be tolerated and must stop. I appeal to @DCI_Kenya @NPSOfficial_KE to take action on this matter. #kajiadoEastmatt, ” the Kirinyaga county boss wrote.
The video, according to social media accounts, is believed to have been taken at Eastmatt Supermarket in Kajiado County.
A man is seen slapping the cashier who is a lady in the unsettling video.
It was not immediately clear why the man resorted to assaulting the lady in the glare of CCTV cameras.
A section of social media users has described the incident as gender-based violence.
