Waiguru, Raila to campaign for Imran in Kibra race

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru on Sunday joined ODM leader Raila Odinga to campaign for Imran Okoth ahead of Thursday’s by-election.
Raila has pitched in the city constituency for the last three days, meeting a host of communities.
On Saturday, Deputy President William Ruto said Raila is under siege and is looking for support from elsewhere.
“If someone calls for support in his bedroom, knows things are thick,” he said while campaigning for Jubilee candidate Macdonald Mariga.
Waiguru’s presence at the final day campaigns is yet another strong indication of a looming alliance ahead of 2022 polls.
Also present in ODM campaigns on Sunday is Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana, who has been at loggerheads with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
On Saturday, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and her Machakos counterpart Alfred Mutua met Raila before joining Kibra polls.
“We are here because we want Uhuru and Raila to show us the way in 2022 and nobody will come between them,” said Ngilu.
“Raila has done a lot for this country and he is the only person who will fight for the people of Kenya.”
Mutua said his party is in consultations with ODM on the possibility of fielding candidates without much animosity to secure a majority in Parliament.
“My party will consult with ODM on how we will field candidates in the 2022 General Election so that we get the numbers to change this country,” he said.
ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna has said that there is a clear indication that NASA is dead.
“We are counting our friends in Kibra and after the polls, new alliances will be forged,” he said.
