Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has warned Kenyans to be aware of scammers targeting Kenyans who applied for the Huduma Namba cards.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, February 10, he said that the scammers were sending text messages soliciting money from Kenyans to collect their cards.
“Please note that notification messages will only come to you from Huduma Namba and not any other phone number,” said Oguna.
Oguna also revealed that the government had sent 2.2 million Kenyans texts informing them that their cards were ready.
However, only 300,000 Kenyans had followed up to collect their documents.
During the registration process, 37 million people were registered and out of those, 20 million are adults.
