Tsavo National Park night fire reduces conservancy land to ashes

Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) has announced several acres of land in the Tsavo conservation area have been ravaged by fire. The fire erupted in three sets on Wednesday, July 22, with the first damaging vegetation in Taita Ranches adjacent to the Tsavo East National Park. The first fire was extinguished.

The second fire broke out in the southern part of Tsavo West National park before another one in Kikundunu part of Chyulu National Park at 7.30pm.

Wednesday’s inferno came hardly a month after another fire destroyed over 180 acres of land in Tsavo East. In May, at least 4,000 acres of vegetation in the same park was destroyed.
