Three people among them two middle-aged men and a woman have been arrested over voter bribery allegations in the ongoing Kibra by-election.
One of the suspects sustained serious injuries after being attacked by irate mob for allegedly bribing voters on the line in one of the polling stations.
At Lindi Mosque, one of the polling stations that politicians and voters claimed had experienced incidents of voter bribery is being manned by a heavy contingent of riot police who arrived at the area in four tracks.
Former Kakamega Senator Bony Khalwale was also roughed up at DC grounds after locals accused him of trying to bribe voters.
In a clip that was widely shared online, Khalwale was seen engaging Kibera youths with stones as his bodyguards fired in the air to disperse the rowdy youths.
Following the fracas, security has been beefed up around various parts of Kibra constituency to deal with any insecurity incident.
Officers from the GSU and the regular police are on standby manning the hotly contested area.
