Sonko whisked away to Integrity centre under tight security

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was taken to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters under tight security.
Sonko landed at Wilson Airport onboard a police chopper at around 2pm before being transferred to Integrity Centre under tight security.
A fleet of police vehicles took the Governor from Wilson Airport through Mbagathi Way to Integrity Centre.
All the roads leading to EACC from Wilson Airport were cleared in an operation led by Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo citing security reasons.
The road from Sagret Hotel to opposite Panafric remained closed for several hours.
Two police water cannons, synonymous with riots, were seen making rounds at Integrity Centre.
Anti-riot police officers also patrolled the environs, ready to thwart any attempts by sympathizers to take to the streets in protest over Sonko’s arrest.
Sonko was arrested in Voi, Taita Taveta county as he tried to escape arrest.
