Priest, nuns robbed of belongings as gang raid Siaya church


Priests and nuns were robbed of their personal effects after a two-man gang raided a Catholic church in in Siaya county.
The suspects broke into the church convent at 8pm before robbing priests, nuns and visitors who were in the convent of their phones and belongings, before escaping on a motorbike.
According to Alego Usonga police boss Michael ole Tiala, the gang knew there was visitor in the convent from Uganda hence the raid.
“They probably thought that the visitors who had come to church from Uganda had brought some money,” he said.
The gang managed to lock the nuns in one room as they ransacked the rooms before leaving on a motorbike.
Cases of robberies have been on the rise in the region
Four days ago, a businessman was shot and injured robbers in the same region.
