Murgor: Ex-MP Muiruri threatened, insulted me at Cohen’s burial

Sarah Wairimu’s lawyer Philip Murgor has accused former Gatundu North MP Patrick Muiruri of threatening him during the burial of slain Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen on Tuesday.
In a letter dated September 25 to the Parklands police station boss, Murgor said the ex-legislator threatened to deal with him when the burial is over after he asked his daughter to leave the Jewish Cemetery.
Murgor said he had been instructed by Wairimu to inform Muiruri’s daughter to leave the cemetery, but it seems it didn’t augur well with him leading to the confrontation and threats.
“Earlier on instructions from my client, I had politely requested the daughter of Muiruri to leave the cemetery as the funeral was agreed to be a private ceremony for family only,” said Murgor.
Murgor said Muiruri who was Cohen’s hurled obscenities at him before being restrained by lawyers Chege Kirundi and Cliff Ombetta.
“He insulted me and shouted: ‘I will deal with you outside’. As he advanced towards me, before he was restrained by Kirundi and Ombeta who luckily were on hand. The incident was witnessed by George Ouma, an advocate,” said Murgor.
“I take this outburst as a threat in an attempt to intimidate me as an advocate for Mrs Cohen. I have therefore taken the decision to record my complaint with yourself, and ask that you immediately commence investigation regarding the intentions of and the threats.”
