Muranga census official arrested for peeing in house, eating children food

Police in Muranga are holding an inebriated census official after he allegedly misbehaved while on duty at a resident’s house.
A family living in Mukuyu was left in shock after the enumerator in full glare of the family, which included children, removed his trousers and started urinating in the sitting room.
The enumerator, Samuel Ndirangu did not have census gadgets during the Thursday night incident.
Before the peeing incident, the official is also accused of forcefully eating food left for children in one of the houses he visited early.
Muranga East police boss Alex Musyia said the owner of the house, who is a Nyumba Kumi official, made a distress call and neighbours alerted the police, who arrested the official.
“The census official was taken to Murang’a Hospital where he was stabilised,” the police boss said.
After he sobered up, the census official was interrogated and he led detectives to his girlfriend’s house where the census gadgets were found.
The gadget was found intact and taken by the officers.
“The gadget has not been tampered with,” Mr Musyia said.
The police boss said the official turned up at the house of the Nyumba Kumi official who was supposed to accompany him for the census activities.
The official will be arraigned to face charges of drunk and disorderly.
