After spending a night at Muranga Police Station, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro was released this morning.
Speaking after his release, Nyoro’s lawyer Irungu Kang’ata said the lawmaker will not be charged because there no charges to warrant his arrest.
“We were able to use our legal argument and show that there is no evidence against the MP,” he said.
Kang’ata also refuted claims that his client had been in hiding saying that the MP had even presided over Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects during the day.
The Kiharu MP was arrested on Monday night after leaders clashed during a church fundraiser in Murang’a County the previous day.
The Tanga Tanga team, led by Nyoro stormed Gitui Catholic Church and attempted to disrupt the fundraiser.
Nominated MP Maina Kamanda, who is affiliated to the Kieleweke faction, had been invited as the chief guest.
The two factions reportedly clashed over who among the two leaders should have introduced the guests who were present.
