Malik’s mum: My son is yet to recover after abduction


Mother of the seven-year-old boy who went missing on October 20 before being found in Homa Bay has claimed the abductors were in the process of trafficking her son.
Akif Malik, was reportedly abducted from their Kenya-Re Estate house in Kisumu, before being found 200 kilometres away, in Homa Bay county, on Wednesday.
The woman said her son is yet to recover from the trauma that emanating from the abduction.
She says the boy is still very weak after being starved by the abductors, adding that he needs a lot of psychological counselling to recover.
“He is emotionally affected and did not eat for days. He is yet to recover,” she said.
The boy was found in the company of a woman in a house in Nyandiwa beach, after allegedly being forced into a red car at Kenya-Re Estate on Sunday.
Homa Bay Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Daniel Wachira said the police rescued the boy after receiving a tip-off from the public.
The suspect is in police custody at Kondele Police Station in Kisumu.
