Leave Matiang’i alone, Waiguru tells DP Ruto allies

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has told Deputy President William Ruto and his allies to stop attacking Interior CS Fred Matiang’I in their rallies.
Waiguru defended Matiang’i saying he has always defended President Uhuru Kenyatta unlike the Tangatanga team who are indirectly attacking the President.
Ruto, on Sunday, warned Jubilee leaders against ridiculing Kenyans while purporting to be speaking for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“The same way Ruto warned Matiang’i about speaking for Uhuru, he should also warn his people against insulting others.
“Those insulted will be forced to retaliate. All leaders have been elected to serve by the people of Kenya. The same pinch you feel when insulted is the same pinch someone feels when you insult them,” Waiguru hit back
On Friday, November 29, while speaking at a fundraiser in Kirinyaga county, Matiang’i stated that he only took orders from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I want to inform politicians who claim that Kibicho is out to frustrate them that the two of us are public servants and we work for everyone. That’s our mandate as directed by President Uhuru,” Matiang’i stated while defending his PS Karanja Kibicho from attacks by Ruto allies.
Former Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale reiterated the DP’s stance, accusing Matiang’i of overstepping his mandate.
He argued that the Interior CS was appointed by both the president and his deputy and therefore he needed to respect them both.
“He was created by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto. If the two had failed to win the general elections, he would never have been appointed,” the former senator pointed out.
