Former presidential candidate charged with stealing car

A former presidential candidate has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle.
Justus Juma appeared before Nairobi Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku charged with stealing journalist Ken Mijungu’s Toyota Prado car.
Juma with another suspect still at large are being accused of stealing the motor vehicle valued at Sh5.6 million in Nairobi County on June 13.
In a second count, the accused is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony where he is accused of stealing the motor vehicle.
He denied the charges and was released on a Sh800,000 cash bail.
Apart from being a news anchor, Mijungu runs a car hire company by the name “Execar-tive CarHire” which imports cars and machinery.
About two months ago, Mijungu appealed to the public to help him trace a stolen car.
The anchor took to his Twitter account to announce that the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VX had been stolen.
Juma contested for president in 2017 but was not cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) over anomalies in crucial documents.
While rejecting Juma’s papers, Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati said the candidate’s degree certificate was not certified among other anomalies.
The matter will be mentioned on October 23, 2019
