CS Munya backs BBI referendum, slams critics

Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has said thrown his weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), saying it will unite the country.
Munya slammed critics of BBI for faulting a report they are yet to see its content.
“These critics have been very vocal when they are yet to see the contents of the report, let them wait for the report to come out,” he said.
He asked them to join the course in a bid to unite Kenya for the sake of economic empowerment of the taxpayers.
Munya told those opposed to the initiative to be patient until the contents of the report are made public before they can criticise the team that collected views from across the country in a bid to offer solutions to the current regime on the way forward after election results differences.
He said that elections have become one of the major problems in Kenya, adding that BBI seeks to offer a solution towards the same.
“Whenever we have elections, economic activities are stalled because of fights. Jobs are lost and our economy suffers. Traders in Kisumu just want peace to go about their activities whether there is an election or there is none… Any Kenyan in Eldoret is only interested in going about his farming whether there is an election or not,” he said.
His support comes at a time when allies of the Deputy President William Ruto from the region have promised to shoot down the report.
They said the push for a referendum is a tactic being used by Opposition leader Raila Odinga to position himself politically.
