Candidate sits KCPE exam in hospital after giving birth


A Class Eight pupil is sitting her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Machakos Level Five Hospital after giving birth last week.
The 14-year-old girl, who is a pupil at Mwala DEB Primary School gave birth to a premature baby at the hospital days before the exam kickoff hence could not be discharged.
Mwala director of education Daniel Simiyu said the pupil and the baby are doing fine.
“Yes, the two are at the Machakos Level Five Hospital and are doing good. The girl will be doing her exams from the hospital,” said Simiyu.
5,486 candidates will be sitting the KCPE exams in Mwala Sub-County.
The sub-county has 200 exam centres among them 22 private schools.
