Kenyan tycoon Turns Ksh8M Boeing Plane Into a Night Club

Published

On Sunday, April 5, the Kitengela, Nairobi resident, stunned Kenyans when he transported a fuselage of a Boeing plane through the highway, sparking a debate on its purpose and how he had acquired it.
However, the engineer in an interview with K24 TV in May 2020 disclosed that he was setting up a unique 5-star night club and restaurant in Kitengela, at a cost of Ksh 8 million.
The grounded aircraft had remained parked at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for several years before he hatched the idea to renovate it and set up the entertainment joint dubbed Club 034.
Upon entry is a red carpet welcoming guests and one is accorded the chance to feel like they are embarking or alighting from a plane.
Inside the plane, Mwatha has a blueprint of how his dream will be realized.
“This is the cockpit and the engine has been removed. The plane will have a first-class and economy class. The cockpit will be for very very important people (VVIPs).
“In the kitchen area, we won’t change anything. We shall still use the same trollies that were used to serve while the plane was airborne,” he disclosed.
The project manager removed all the seats from the plane and detailed that he had crafted a system by which the plane would accommodate over 100 guests.
“In first-class, we are going to strip it top and bottom and decorate it with a 3D model. In the model, we shall set up clouds that create the atmosphere of a real flight.
“We are also coming up with software whereby you can book tickets online and check on availability. All you have to do is show your ticket on entry and be ushered to your seat. When you check out, we also do so online so that someone else can reserve the seat,” he added.
The idea, he hopes, will attract as many people as it can. To ensure that clients are well served and to avoid frustrations, Mwatha stated that he will create extra space outside with decorated tents and seats for waiting customers.

Coast-based musician Kidis the Jembe has announced that he has quit music for good after failing to make it in the industry in over a decade he had been in the game.

A frustrated Kidis, who burst into limelight with his hit banger Kamua Leo several years back, claims he has lost millions of shillings in the music industry, something that has prompted him to quit.

The singer also claims he lost a whopping Sh6.5 million on the song Mshamba which was used as the signature tune for TV comedy program ‘Mshamba’ which aired on a local TV station.

Kidis says he has never been paid the loyalty for the song and his effort to get his dues have been futile. He also claims Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) owe him Sh7.5 million in loyalties.

Kidis made the revelations during a phone conversation with Milele FM radio presenter Chris The Baise. “Sanaa ya Kenya iko na uhuni sana, sasa naibiwa pesa hadi nilishindwa kulipa nyumba shilingi elfu kumi. Niambie vipi Kidis ashindwe kulipa elfu kumi?” he posed.

This is not the first time Kidis has shared his frustrations with the Kenyan music industry. Back in 2014, he became the first artiste to ditch Grandpa Records that was huge back then. He quit after a bitter fallout with the owner of the label Refigah.

Kidis claimed he never met his expectation since joining the label which signed him after he dropped Kamua Leo. However Refigah denied falling out with Kidis, stating that his contract with the now dead label, had come to an end.
