Premier League predictions: Everton to hold Liverpool?

Published

on

Soccer fans will be in for a treat on Sunday as Everton hosts Liverpool and we have Premier League predictions and picks for the Merseyside Derby.
Liverpool sits atop the EPL table with a massive 22-point lead on second-place Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s squad needs just six points to clinch the EPL Championship but they’ll need to shake off the three-month hiatus as they head to Goodison Park to face 12th-place Everton.
We bring you our best EPL picks and Premier League soccer predictions for Everton vs. Liverpool on Sunday, June 21.

EVERTON VS LIVERPOOL
Liverpool fans received good news on Friday with Klopp announcing that left-back Andy Robertson and leading scorer Mohamed Salah will be on the team list for Sunday, despite missing a recent training session due to muscle problems.
Nonetheless, peak fitness won’t be easy for anyone coming off the COVID-19 break and Everton has plenty of injuries of their own, especially at midfield with Morgan Schneiderlin, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and Fabian Delph all ruled out. So don’t expect them to push the pace.
With how dominant Liverpool has been on defense and keeper Alisson back after missing time in March due to a hip injury, bank on the first half being scoreless.
Pick: First Half Under 0.5 goals (+240)

Team/Player Prop
Liverpool has been incredible defensively, conceding only 21 goals across 29 matches and posting 12 clean sheets this season. Everton has failed to score in four of their last five matches against Liverpool across all competitions, most recently during the FA Cup in January, with Liverpool winning at Anfield by a score of 1-0.
Pick: Liverpool clean sheet
Over/Under Bet
We discussed Liverpool’s defensive brilliance but Everton is no slouch in that department either. Over Everton’s last seven games at home, they’ve allowed a total of just five goals and if Salah is not 100 percent, that will be another boost to their defensive chances.
With the last two meetings in Everton between these clubs resulting in a 0-0 draw, signs are pointing to the Under 2.5 goals Sunday, which is paying out at plus money.
Pick: Under 2.5

Side Bet
Everton has gone unbeaten in their last seven EPL matches at home, tallying four wins and three draws over that span. And the last seven times that Liverpool has traveled to Goodison Park, they’ve come away with just one victory while settling for six draws.
That said, the early domestic football returns across Europe have suggested that home-field advantage just isn’t the same without fans in attendance. This Liverpool team is nothing short of sensational with 27 wins and just one loss and one draw this season. Even with Robertson and Salah below full strength, they have a much better team from top to bottom. Back Liverpool to emerge from the break with yet another win.

Barcelona appoint Koeman as new coach

Published

on

Barcelona have appointed Ronald Koeman as their next coach, the club said in a statement on Wednesday, as the Catalans look to rebuild after their 8-2 thrashing by Bayern Munich in the Champions League last week.

Koeman, who has left his role as manager of the Netherlands, has signed a two-year-deal with Barcelona, who sacked Quique Setien on Monday after he presided over the club’s worst defeat ever in European competition.

Koeman, who will be officially presented at the Camp Nou stadium later on Wednesday, is dearly loved at Barca for his role in Johan Cruyff’s hugely successful side known as the ‘Dream Team’ and for scoring the goal that delivered the club’s first ever European Cup in 1992.

The defender later became the club’s assistant coach before embarking on a career as a head coach, managing Dutch sides Ajax Amsterdam, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord plus Premier League sides Southampton and Everton and La Liga’s Valencia.

“Barcelona and Ronald Koeman have come to an agreement for him to be the team’s coach until 30 June 2022,” said Barca’s statement.

“A club legend and Barca’s hero at Wembley who gave fans their first European Cup, Koeman is coming back to the Camp Nou. But this time he will be in the dugout to lead the team.”
